This style of port wine is aged entirely in seasoned oak barrels, each of which holds approximately 630 liters of wine. Here, over many years of maturation, the wine gradually takes on its characteristic amber "tawny" color and slowly develops the complex, mild aromas and supple, lush palate that are the hallmarks of a Tawny Port.
